Bristol Little League Spring 2026

Bristol Little League – Spring 2026 Division Overview & Player Placement Guidelines

Bristol Little League offers players a fun, instructional, and competitive baseball experience designed to promote skill development, teamwork, and a lifelong love for the game. Our Spring season is the primary competitive season for all players, with divisions structured according to Little League International’s 2026 League Age guidelines.

Below is an overview of each division and placement criteria for the upcoming spring season:

🧢 Tee Ball

For League Age 4–6
League Age 4: Plays in Tee Ball.
League Age 5: Plays in Tee Ball but may play A Ball if they’ve completed one season of Tee Ball and have completed an assessment indicating they have the skills needed for A Ball.
League Age 6: Plays in A Ball unless a parent requests to remain in Tee Ball.

Tee Ball focuses on the fundamentals — hitting off a tee, running bases, throwing, and catching — in a fun, supportive, and non-competitive environment perfect for new players.

A Ball (Coach Pitch)

For League Age 5–8
League Age 5: Eligible if they’ve completed one season of Tee Ball and have completed an assessment indicating they have the skills needed for A Ball.
League Age 6: Default placement unless a parent requests Tee Ball.
League Age 7: Standard placement; may be considered for Minors/Majors after an assessment if they’ve completed one season of A Ball.
League Age 8: Can play in A Ball with Player Agent approval and a parent request.

Coach-pitched games emphasize developing batting confidence, fielding skills, and base running awareness in a fun, learning-focused setting.

Minors/Majors Division (Player Pitch)

For League Age 7–12
This division introduces full player pitching and builds on core baseball skills like hitting, fielding, base running, and game strategy.
Division Levels Overview:
Lower Minors: Focuses on developing fundamental player-pitch skills, learning game rules, and building confidence at the plate and in the field.
Upper Minors: Introduces more advanced pitching, defensive positioning, and strategic play.
Majors: Competitive play with full Little League rules, emphasizing strategy, teamwork, and advanced skill development.
Placement Process:
All players League Age 7–12 will participate in a skills assessment prior to the start of the season. Assessment results, along with prior playing experience, will determine whether a player is placed at the Lower Minors, Upper Minors, or Majors level, ensuring they are in the environment best suited for their development and safety.
Special Note for 7-Year-Olds: Players age 7 who try out for the Minors/Majors Division may be placed in A Ball if the assessment indicates that their current skill level is better suited for a coach-pitch environment.

50/70 Division (11-13YO) **note - we encourage 11 & 12 year old's to sign up for majors/minors first, however you can play 50/70 as a secondary team at the same time**

The Little League Intermediate (50/70) Division is designed to help players transition smoothly from the smaller Little League field to the full-sized baseball diamond. It offers a faster, more advanced style of play while keeping development and fun at the center.
Key Features
Field Dimensions: 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths
Advanced Rules: Leads, pickoffs, balks, and stealing allowed
Bigger Baseball Feel: Larger field creates more realistic baseball situations without the full jump to 60/90
Age Range: Typically for players 11–13 years old
Player Development: Ideal for improving pitching timing, defensive decision-making, and baserunning skills

Juniors Division

For League Age 13–14
Players compete on a full-sized 90-foot diamond under complete baseball rules. The Juniors Division prepares athletes for middle and high school baseball while maintaining the community-focused Little League experience.

Seniors Division (Tournament Team)

For League Age 15–16
Waitlist Only: This division is limited and will operate on a waitlist to ensure we have enough players to field a team.
Tryouts Required: All registered players will attend a tryout.
Timing: The Seniors Division season cannot start until after the high school baseball season ends.
Purpose: This team serves as the league’s tournament team and will participate in a very short season and tournament play. Not everyone who registers will make this team as there will only be 12 spots available.
This structure ensures competitive opportunities for older players while respecting high school baseball schedules.

Notes:

The League reserves the right to make reasonable exceptions to these guidelines to accommodate special circumstances.
Player placement decisions will prioritize skill level, safety, and developmental needs.
