Tee Ball

Little League baseball division designed for players baseball ages 4, 5 and first time 6-year-olds that are either new to the sport or still refining the basic skills.  This is a non-competitive division focused on having fun while introducing the players to the fundamentals of baseball.  Players will hit off a tee and will participate in one practice and one game per week.  Games are typically on the weekend.  Teams will generally be organized by school/neighborhood and teammate requests are considered.


Equipment players should have:

·         Baseball glove

·         Baseball helmet with gage

·         Baseball bat (USA Baseball). 

·         Baseball cleats are optional

·         Strongly encouraged to wear a protective cup

A Ball

Little League baseball division designed for players 6 & 7 years old and is a non-competitive division that is focused on having fun while furthering skill development and understanding of the game.  Players will be pitched to by a coach, but a tee may be used if needed.  Players will participate in one practice and one game per week.  Games are typically on the weekend.  Teams will generally be organized by school/neighborhood and teammate requests are considered. 


Equipment players should have their own:

·         Baseball glove

·         Baseball helmet with cage

·         Baseball bat (USA Baseball)

·         Baseball cleats are optional

·         Strongly encouraged to wear a protective cup


Players looking to register for this division should have played at least one year of tee ball and possess the following skills/knowledge:

·         Knowledge of the bases

·         Run to the correct base on a batted ball

·         Understand how to make a defensive play to first


Players Little League Age 7 and up who have played at least one season are required to attend player evaluations to ensure that each player is properly placed for their successful growth and development.  (Dates & Times are TBD)

AA Ball

Little League baseball division designed for players 7, 8 and first time 9 years old.  This is the first competitive division, but the focus will remain on player development and having fun. Players will pitch from 42 feet and will be aided by coaches if needed, as players will not walk at this level.  A continuous batting order will be used and playing time in the field will be relatively even amongst players. 


Equipment players should have their own:

·         Baseball glove

·         Baseball helmet with cage

·         Baseball bat (USA Baseball)

·         Baseball pants & belt

·         Strongly encouraged to wear a protective cup. 

·         It is mandatory that catchers wear a protective cup

·         Baseball cleats


Players looking to register for this division should have played at least 2 seasons of baseball and possess the following skills/knowledge:

·         Knowledge of Defensive Positions

·         The ability to consistently and reasonably accurately throw the ball 45’

·         The ability to catch a ball that is thrown at you and protect yourself from a ball that is hit at you, this includes the ability to pay attention

·         Batter’s box awareness

·         Player should have the focus and maturity to participate in a practice or game of up to one hour long without parental involvement.


Season Structure:

·         Weeks 1 & 2 - 2 practices & 1 Sandlot Style

·         Weeks 3 & 4 - 2 practices & 1 Game

·         Remainder of Season – Minimum 1 Practice & 2 Games

·         End of Season division Jamboree


Players Little League Age 7 and up who have played at least one season are required to attend player evaluations to ensure that each player is properly placed for their successful growth and development. (Dates & Times are TBD)


Teams will be assembled by league officials & division coaches in an attempt to create parity amongst the teams.  If a player has registered for “AA” and is placed on a “A” Team, the league will refund the difference to the account.

AAA

Little League baseball division designed for players 9 – 11.  “AAA” is a more competitive division than “AA”, but the focus remains on skill development, teamwork and having fun.  Players will pitch from the traditional 46’ Little league mound.  The traditional 3 strike / 4 ball count will be utilized, walks after 4 balls, and stealing bases are allowed. A continuous batting order will be utilized playing time will be balanced as much as possible.


Equipment players should have their own

·         Baseball glove,

·         Baseball helmet with Cage or c flap is optional

·         Baseball bat (USA Baseball)

·         Baseball pants & belt

·         Strongly encouraged to wear a protective cup.

·         It is mandatory that catchers wear a protective cup

·         Baseball cleats


Players looking to register for this division should have played at least 2 seasons of baseball and possess the following skills/knowledge:

·         A player must have

·         The ability to properly address the plate

·         The ability to throw and catch the ball with consistency

·         The ability to field a batted ball

·         Player should have the focus and maturity to participate in a practice or game of up to 2 hours long without parental involvement.


Season Structure:

·         2 practices per week

·         2 games per week.

·         End of season division tournament

·         AAA Tournament Team, so long as tournament availability exists


Players registering for AAA are required to attend player evaluations. (Dates & Times are TBD)

Teams will be drafted by the managers.  Unless a player has previously played at this division in a previous spring season at Bristol LL, it is not guaranteed that they will be placed on a AAA team.  If a player has registered for AAA and is placed on a AA Team, the league will refund the difference to the account.

Majors

Little League baseball division designed for players 10 – 12.  This is the most competitive division of baseball that is played on the 46/60 field and largely follows the traditional rules and strategies of baseball.  While this division still focuses on player development, this division is a more competitive environment.  Playing time may not be equally balanced between players, the mandatory minimum playing time is only 6 consecutive defensive outs and 1 at-bat per game.


Equipment players should have their own

·         Baseball glove,

·         Baseball helmet with cage or c flap is optional

·         Baseball bat (USA Baseball)

·         Baseball pants & belt

·         Strongly encouraged to wear a protective cup.

·         It is mandatory that catchers wear a protective cup

·         Baseball cleats


Players looking to register for this division should have played at least 2 seasons of baseball and possess the following skills/knowledge:

·         All the skills of a AAA player plus

·         The ability to be competitive both offensively and defensively. 


Season Structure:

·         2 practices per week

·         2 games per week.

·         End of season division tournament

·         Elected District All-Star Teams (Typically but not guaranteed to have a 12U, 11U and 10U Teams)


Players registering for Majors are required to attend player evaluations. (Dates & Times are TBD)

Teams will be drafted by the managers.  Unless a player has previously played at this division in a previous spring season at Bristol LL, it is not guaranteed that they will be placed on a Majors team.  If a player has registered for Majors and is placed on a AAA Team, the league will refund the difference to the account.

50/70 (Ages 11-13)

  • Offered as a wait list only for the 2023 season, to determine if we are able to field a team.
  • The Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division for players league-age 11-13 offers a transition for players between the standard Little League field size (46-foot pitching distance and 60-foot base paths) and the Junior/Senior/ field size (60-foot, 6-inch pitching distance and 90-foot base paths).Many of the Junior League rules will be used such as runners being permitted to lead off bases and runners may attempt to steal at any time.
  • This is primarily a travel team. Teams will travel to play teams from other towns within and outside of our District.  
  • Players are allowed to play on dual rosters during the regular season (11/12-year olds can play Majors and 50/70. 13-year olds can play Juniors or 50/70. 
  • Players participate in a pre-season skill assessment and are drafted by managers (Request for friends to be on the same team, or to be with a specific coach are not permitted). 
  • At minimum, 2 practices and 2 games per week. Games are primarily on weekends. They can be doubleheaders on those weekends (one or both days) and can also be held any day of the week.
    Players should have their own baseball glove, protective cup, cleats, bats, and helmets.

Juniors (Ages 13-14)

  • The Junior League Baseball Division is played on a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet, 6 inches.
  • Rules are similar to Major League Baseball.
  • This is primarily a travel team. Teams will primarily travel to play teams from other towns within and outside of our District.  
  • Players participate in a pre-season skill assessment and are drafted by managers (Request for friends to be on the same team, or to be with a specific coach are not permitted).   ·       At minimum, 2 practices and 2 games per week. Games are primarily played on weekends but can held any day of the week.
    Players should have their own baseball glove, protective cup, cleats, bats, and helmets.

Seniors (Ages 15-16)

  • The Senior League Baseball Division is played on a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet, 6 inches.
  • Regular season begins after high school season ends.
  • Rules are similar to Major League Baseball.
  • This is primarily a travel team. Teams will primarily travel to play teams from other towns within and outside of our District.  
  • Players participate in a pre-season skill assessment and are drafted by managers (Request for friends to be on the same team, or to be with a specific coach are not permitted).

Challenger Division

  • The Little League Challenger Division was founded in 1989, and is Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges. Any individual with a physical or intellectual challenge may participate.
  • The Little League Challenger Division accommodates players with Special Needs in Bristol & bordering towns ages 4 to 18; or up to age 22 if still enrolled in school.
